Based upon Frederick S. Baker's text The Principles of Silviculture which was the only text written for North American forestry that deals with the basic principle underlying the practice of forestry. This edition expands upon Bakers original principles and incorporates advances in knowledge and in the profession itself. A large part of the text is devoted to considerations of basic plant-environment interactions.
