"This outline provides an up-to-date survey of astronomy for the students in the introductory course or for the interested reader. It begins with an introduction to the night sky. Traces the history of astronomical thought, describes different kinds of telescopes, and give the basic principles of observational astronomy. From there it considers our own solar system. The various kinds of stars and their life histories, the Milky Way and other galaxies, and the structure of the universe. The level of mathematics never exceeds that of a good college algebra course and is usually held at a much lower level. Included are 77 charts, 47 photographs, star maps and a glossary
