The book discusses the meaning of development and looks at theoretical issues, such as environmental vs. biological determinants of behavior and active vs. passive nature of the child, explores historical perspectives on Developmental Psychology, and looks at ethical issues in research. There is in-depth study of the prenatal period, the first two years, the childhood years: language and cognitive development, the childhood years: personal and social development, and adolescence.
