This analysis of modern China was written specifically for the schools history project GCSE syllabus. It contains source material from China and the USA. It examines the history of the revolution in China and its outcome. Questions on each chapter help students to understand causes and motivation and to recognize connections between past and present. Four profiles are included of the main protaganists in modern Chinese history, Chiang Kai-shek, Mao Zedong, Lin Biao and Deng Ziaoping. A case study of a Red Guard is also included. Coursework assignments are provided which cover named objectives (e.g. evaluation, and interpretation of sources, causation and motivation, empathy)
