You are about to study the laws of behavior. That may not seem a remarkable thing to do. After all, we have assumed for a long time that we inhabit an orderly universe; acting on that assumption, we have produced some science, and we have used that science to change our lives-for the better, we thought. Thus, science has become an accepted part of our existence, and we freely suppose that new problems will be overcome by scientific research just as past ones have.
