Applying AutoCAD: A Step-By-Step Approach for AutoCAD Release 10 on MS-DOS, UNIX, and Macintosh II Computers

From the Introduction: Applying AutoCAD®: A Step-By-Step Approach is a work-text based on the AutoCAD® computer-aided drafting and design package, Release 10. It is designed primarily for new users of AutoCAD, though experienced users also will find it to be a helpful aid for reference and review. Through step-by-step instruction, the book takes students from the beginning to the advanced level. Along the way, they are encouraged to experiment, to create, and to learn firsthand the power and versatility of AutoCAD. Applying AutoCAD is not restricted to one discipline. Rather, it serves all areas which require methods of drafting, design, and engineering, such as architecture, civil engineering, mapping, landscaping, mechanical and structural engineering, electricity/electronics, facilities planning, and interior design. Less common but potentially very productive areas include theater set and lighting design, museum display design, graphic arts, and even archaeology. Applying AutoCAD is fully compatible with personal computers running the MS/PC-DOS® operating system. Ten major versions of the AutoCAD software run on MS/PC-DOS machines; AutoCAD is installed on this type of computer more than any other. Appendices E-H offer special assistance in using MS/PC-DOS with AutoCAD. The AutoCAD commands and functions presented in Applying AutoCAD are also compatible with the Apple Macintosh® II version of AutoCAD. Macintosh II users should first read Appendix I, "Apple Macintosh II Version of AutoCAD." This appendix discusses the unique features of the Macintosh II. If you are using the Mac II version of AutoCAD, ignore any references to MS/PC-DOS commands and functions that may be made in the book. If you are using another operating system supported by AutoCAD, such as DEC VMS® or a UNIX® variation, you will also find Applying AutoCAD useful in learning how to apply the wide range of commands and functions found in AutoCAD.
