Ethics, Public Policy, and Agriculture

From the Publisher\nThis text is the result of a collaborative effort between two philosophers with expertise in ethics, and an agricultural economist with expertise in public policy. The book offers students an analytical framework for understanding and evaluating the ethical issues associated with agriculture-related public policy. The first part of the book offers an introduction to both public policy and ethical theory, along with a description of how (and where) ethical considerations figure in the policy process. The second part examines, largely through case studies, the ethical issues associated with particular areas of agriculture-related public policy: food safety, environmental protection, international assistance, animal welfare, farm structure, and sustainability.
