Love Letters to Cell 92: Dietrich Bonhoeffer to His Fiancee Maria Von Wedemeyer
Description:
This collection of letters between Maria von Wedemeyer and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, was written while he was in prison following his part in a plot to assassinate Hitler. Bonhoeffer was eventually to be executed. A few of the letters are written by Dietrich himself. They show his passionate and romantic side, which has always been shielded by his public image. He had said earlier in his life that he would not live beyond 37. It was in fact at the age of 37 that he met Maria and fell hopelessly in love with her. They never had the chance to spend much time together - a matter of weeks in fact - so their love affair was conducted in these letters.
