Part two of the book is devoted to Latin influenced words, focusing specifically on Latin suffixes and prefixes, as well as a guide to the study of Latin derivatives. From Latin the book transitions to Greek, offering the same overview as the Latin section but now focused on words of Greek origin. Anglo-Saxon words are examined in detail in another section, and the book concludes with a section on miscellaneous derivatives.The book is intended as both a teaching guide and a textbook for students. Study exercises are presented throughout the book for students to apply the knowledge they have learned in previous lessons. Swinton has certainly provided the reader with a great deal of information in New Word Analysis. Rarely today is the English language taught in such a way as to break down various words and analyze their origin, and this is undoubtedly a valuable exercise.
