The feasts of November can be seen as the "harvest feasts" of the Year of Grace. The natural harvest intertwines with the harvest at the end of time. The music contained on the recording comes from Roman Catholic, Lutheran, and Episcopal hymnals in use in the U.S.; from chant from the Eastern and Western Church, and from anthems and motets from many different eras.

Music for Advent II captures something of that air of anticipation that is Advent. Like the first recording, some of the songs are very familiar (O Come, O Come, Emmanuel); others were written for this very recording (Bethlehem, Make Ready). J. Michael Thompson is the founder and director of the Schola Cantorum. He is a pastoral musician and liturgist, as well as a composer, and an author.
