<p>Thomas Ambrogi's early life propelled him on a joyful and fulfilling course to the Jesuit priesthood -- a vocation that proved deeply meaningful to him and those he served. Then at age 39, his priestly pilgrimage embraced marriage and an intense engagement with issues of ecumenical and social justice. For almost fifty years now, Thomas has viewed himself as "a transdenominational Christian with roots in the Roman Catholic tradition." Among his many careers, he has served as a professor at the University of the Pacific, Dean of the Chapel at Stanford University, head of the Archdiocese Social Justice Commission in San Francisco and executive director of Quaker and secular organizations. He traveled to El Salvador to help negotiate the release of Ricardo Calderon and lived in South Africa for two years where he witnessed the transition to Nelson Mandela's presidency. Throughout it all he has been passionate about "seeking good work:" from pressing for peace in Israel-Palestine to comforting his fellow residents at the Pilgrim Place retirement community where he now lives. Having repeatedly asked himself "where is the valuable place to be?" this lovely book is a testament to and about a life well and searchingly lived.</p>
