Resonance is the tenth in an annual series of publications that features the best young practicing architects as selected by the Architectural League of New York in their annual Young Architects competition. Young architects practicing today are working with diversified tools as a result of technological advances in building methodologies, expanded communication networks, and cross-fertilization from other disciplines and industries. Competition entrants were asked to consider whether this increased the potential for architectural ideas to resonate with issues and concerns outside of their discipline. The competition winners—Gage/Clemenceau Architects, PellOverton Architecture R + D, Easton + Combs, Xu Tiantian, Project Open, and RVTR—each incorporated variations of the "resonance" to frame their portfolios and demonstrate the necessity for architecture to look outside its disciplinary boundaries for solutions to the global challenges facing the world today.

Foresight is the eleventh in an annual series of publications that features the best young practicing architects as selected by the Architectural League of New York in their annual Young Architects competition. This year's theme, "Foresight," refers to an ability to survey, research, and engage the present toward particular, desired outcomes in the future. Our lives are inundated by forecasts about the world climate, the economy, sociopolitical trends, the housing markets rise and fall, and all kinds of bubbles bursting. Everyone has become an expert in predicting the future, just as the very idea of a better future has, for the first time in recent memory, come into question. The competition winners—Bureau E.A.S.T., Ether Ship, ex.studio, Fake Industries, Frida Escobedo Lopez, and Phu Hoang Office—present forward-thinking projects that imagine an effective role for architecture in the future.

The Architectural League Prize (formerly known as the Young Architects Forum) is an annual competition and series of lectures and exhibitions organized by the Architectural League and its Young Architects and Designers Committee. The Architectural League Prize was established to recognize specific works of high quality and to encourage the exchange of ideas among young people who might otherwise not have a forum. 
The competition theme, ReSource, created a basis for entrants to compose their portfolios and critically evaluate their work. This year's committee posited that architectural practice relies on resources: disciplinary resources, such as theory and technique; physical resources, such as materials and production technologies; and practical resources, such as coordination planning, and financing.

The Architectural League Prize is an annual competition, series of lectures, and exhibition organized by the Architectural League and its Young Architects and Designers Committee. The League Prize was established to recognize specific works of high quality and to encourage the exchange of ideas among young people who might otherwise not have a forum. Participants in the program are chosen through a portfolio competition that is juried by distinguished architects, artists and critics, and the Young Architects and Designers Committee. The committee, a group selected each year from past winners of the League Prize, is responsible for developing the program's theme and selecting competition jurors. Open to designers ten years or less out of school, the competition draws entrants from around North America. The lecture series and exhibition by winners of the competition provide a lively public forum for the discussion of their work and ideas. This year's theme: It's Different. Every generation thinks it is special, new, and different and ours is no exception. What perhaps may make the claim stronger for the current generation are the circumstances: global networking and integration, and global economic and security crises; environmental activism and environmental catastrophe; virtual revolution and physical stagnation. Against these challenges and in light of the fundamental ruptures of the Great Recession, the committee posits that the future will operate on a wholly different paradigm. This difference will require architects and the discipline to practice architecture and design without preconceptions and assumptions, rethinking how designers engage constructively with our cities, our environments, and our societies. Not content to wait for the hoped-for return of economic conditions favorable to conventional ideas about architectural practice, architects must ask: What is the new role of the designer? The call for entries addressed the state of architecture as a reflection of our world: it's different now. The committee sought projects and design approaches that provided new strategies to address existing or entrenched problems, proactive definitions of practice, and a rethinking of the design discipline in relation to new economic, political, social, and cultural paradigms.

The prestigious Emerging Voices Award was created in 1982 by the Architectural League of New York to showcase the work of early- to mid-career North American architects. Each year, through an invited competition, a jury selects practitioners or firms with a significant body of realized work that represents the best of its kind and has the potential to impact the future of architecture and landscape design. Emerging Voices 30 documents and critically assesses the first three decades of the League's Emerging Voices program. Essays by Reed Kroloff, Ashley Schafer, and Karen Stein, and concise observations by leading critics, architects, and historians complement the presentation of work from the more than two hundred individuals and firms that have been selected for the program. Emerging Voices 30 is an ideal lens through which to interpret the lasting impact of this influential group of architects.

For over thirty years, the League Prize has recognized outstanding and provocative work by up-and-coming North American architects and designers. The 2017 competition theme, Support, defines the term as 'an artifice that props architecture up while in turn facilitating new ideas, new forms, and new opportunities for action'. The competition asked entrants to define support's effect on architecture as tangible (how buildings stand up), financial (how buildings are funded), and theoretical (how buildings contribute to architectural discourse).
