In her dying breath, Lancelot's mother tells him he must embrace his fate so that one day he will be great. He serves the Lady of the Lake faithfully as a bodyguard to her bratty son, but is banished when his first true love is murdered by the Lady's sworn enemy. Next, he serves as King Arthur's greatest knight until he is falsely accused of having an affair with Guinevere. He kills an innocent knight and is responsible for the death of a young man and a woman -- two other innocents. Merlin, who has his own plans for Lancelot, uses a spell to send Lancelot hundreds of years into the future. Being in the future is a big enough adjustment, but Lancelot is also possessed by the three spirits of the people whose deaths he caused. In this future he must conquer the mysterious Rittlock, an evil king. In the Field of Flying Ponies, past, present, and future clash in the battle that could save or destroy the world.
