In the summer of 1970, Lance Conway, star pitcher for his high school's baseball team, falls in love for the first time. Over the years, Lance expands his business, making investments and rubbing shoulders with Texas millionaires until his enterprise becomes an empire. By the ago of twenty-one Lance himself has become a millionaire. With his unstoppable work ethic, he fills the void left by Laura's disappearance, rebuilds his pride and proves to himself that he deserves her love and her father's respect.
