<p>A collection of photographs by Gordon Baer, a photojournalist from Louisville, Kentucky and Cincinnati, Ohio. The collection includes photo essays on Vietnam veterans, the Beatles at Crosley Field in Cincinnati in 1966, a village in Korea in 1968, and Chester Cornett, a chairmaker from eastern Kentucky. The second portion of the book is comprised of portraits of places and people that capture the essence of his subjects. From the Foreword by Michael Wilson: "Making a photograph can be like opening a door. A good photographer makes pictures that do more than simply open a door; they hold the door open and turn on a light. Then there are exceptionally gifted people such as Gordon Baer, who not only hold the door open and turn on a light, but also somehow make you want to go with them into a place - even if that place might be unfamiliar or unsettling.
