<p>"Carefully choose your ICING. Pray and watch for LOCUSTS. Find ways to love LIFE." These are the words of author Renee Roberts, a woman who has struggled with multiple hardships throughout her life. From the time she was a child she has dealt with personal illnesses, family problems, and difficult friendships and relationships, many of which each of us faces daily. She has relied on God for support, and she relates her experiences, as well as those of other women she has interviewed, in making life choices. She has included not only the other women's stories, but also her own stories and poetry, as well as numerous related scriptures and quotes.</p>
<p>She describes how each of us can 1) choose our own icing--either light or dark, 2) talk to God through prayer and keep a sharp eye out for locusts that tend to creep up on us, often at the most inopportune times, and 3) find ways to love the life God has given us, even when it seems He has abandoned us. Renee urges us to highlight portions of the text and dog-ear the pages in order to return to them over and over when either a gentle reminder or an out-and-out slap upside the head is needed to get our lives back on track. Her writing teaches us to reminisce about our past experiences in order to see them in a different light and accept our possible futures by trusting God's plan for each of us.</p>
