Boyut Yayincilik'in Kitâb-i Bahriye'si, en güzel ve özel kopyalardan biri olan Istanbul Üniversitesi Nadir Eserler Kütüphanesi'nde T.6605 numaraya kayitli eserden yola çikilarak hazirlandi. Yüzyillar boyu denizcilere rehber olan kitaptaki haritalar günümüz bilgisayar teknolojileri kullanilarak yapildigi günlerdeki canli ve parlak renklerine kavusturuldu. Orijinallerindeki metinlere dokunmaksizin ilave haritalarla Türkçelestirildi. Bazi yer isimleri bugün kullanilmadigi için yerini yenilerine birakirken, eski ama günümüzde de hatirlanabilen yer isimleri korunmaya özen gösterildi. Böylece ortaya herkesin kolaylikla anlayabilecegi bilgiler ve bakmaktan keyif alacagi görsellikte bir Kitâb-i Bahriye çikti. Bir basyapit niteligi tasiyan bu çalisma, simdi daha küçük ebatta ve Ingilizce olarak okurlara sunuluyor. Bu eser, Pîrî Reis 1513 Dünya Haritasi'nin 500. Yil Dönümü'nde adeta bir saygi durusu özelligi de tasiyor ve biz bu eserin kayit numarasina bir ek yapma geregini duyuyoruz: T6605/B2013, yani Kitâb-i Bahriye'nin Boyut Yayincilik yorumlariyla 2013 yili kopyasi.
