Maureen Mullally-Clarke is a firm believer in this precept. Following a magical summer celebrating her twenty-first birthday as a seagoing stenographer on Canadian Pacific liners, she starts training to become a barrister. However, when her seven children come along, her career takes a back seat. 
But in the early 1960s, with the help of an incredibly supportive husband, Maureen decides to think about working again. First, as a writer and journalist -- meeting the likes of Margaret Thatcher, the Royal Family, and Jimmy Savile. And then in the 1970s, she realises her dream and qualifies as a barrister; an inspiration for women (and men) longing to achieve their ambitions. 
This book is a sequel to Old Clothes & Porridge, in which Maureen tells the story of her unusual childhood, growing up with her grandmother, living through the Depression, the abdication of King Edward VIII, and World War II.
