He earned his B.A. degrees in psychology and sociology magna cum laude at Brandeis University and a Ph.D. in social psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 1996 he was awarded the Fulbright/FLAD Chair in Market Globalization by the U.S. Fulbright Commission and the Government of Portugal, and he served as Distinguished Lecturer in Marketing at the Technical University of Lisbon. He held an appointment as Professor of Consumer Behaviour at the University of Manchester (United Kingdom) from 2007 to 2013. Katherine (Kate) White is professor of marketing and behavioural science at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia. She holds a Professorship in Consumer Insights, Prosocial Consumption, and Sustainability. Kate is trained as a social psychologist and she completed her Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia, her M.A. at the University of Waterloo, and her B.A. at Simon Fraser University.
