Part of the story of his ancestors was captured in a 2010 segment of the PBS series, "History Detectives" titled "The Galvez Papers," in which Henderson is featured. Additionally, his efforts led to him becoming the first African American in Georgia to be inducted into the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution in 2010. He has served as vice president and president of his chapter, and, as of this writing, remains Georgia's only African American member. He is a native of Algiers, a neighborhood in New Orleans, Louisiana, and a graduate of Xavier University. In 2010, he became the first African American in the state of Georgia inducted into the National Society, Sons of the American Revolution. His discovery of an 18th-century document referencing his Louisiana ancestor led to the making of a PBS segment of the "History Detectives" program titled "The Galvez Papers." Henderson later became president of the Button Gwinnett Chapter, Georgia Society SAR, and continues his research of colonial Louisiana.
