C’est un doux monde que dessine Pierre Mabille : si des dessins pouvaient murmurer, ses lavis seraient de ceux-là. Il y a une forme de distance, juste pour glisser le silence entre les choses, sans rien céder de la proximité du regard. Ce sont des paysages familiers, saisis dans la simultanéité du quotidien et du souvenir, avec le léger décalage du temps qui passe, de l’action qui continue au fil du dessin. C’est ce qui donne cette vie si mouvante aux dessins, qui semblent se dérouler sous nos yeux, et superposer plusieurs images par seconde. Le pinceau est vif, le trait imprécis et juste, comme le mouvement du monde, tout semble déborder, être un peu plus près ou déjà un peu plus loin qu’il n’y paraît. Ici et presque ailleurs. Les chats traversent le jardin, les enfants chahutent, jouent, dessinent, des papiers volent, l’eau coule dans la cuisine, on se croise, on se rencontre, on discute au coin de la rue, on oublie de rentrer le linge sous la pluie, on regarde le jour tomber… C’est l’existence au bord du regard, une existence proche, à portée de main, le portrait en creux de journées consacrées à des choses bouleversantes car paisiblement anodines : ouvrir la fenêtre sur la ville, longer une rivière, regarder les feuilles tomber à l’automne, donner un cours de couleur, organiser un pique-nique au parc, faire un tour de barque sur le lac, préparer le repas du soir, se rendre à un vernissage ou au cinéma, discuter tard dans la nuit autour d’un verre avec des amis, et recommencer.Ce livre est le fruit d’une coédition entre la Galerie Jean Fournier, qui expose les peintures de Pierre Mabille depuis 2005, et les Editions Unes, qui publient ses livres de poésie depuis quelques années. Il présente, à l’occasion de l’exposition des Lavis de l’artiste à la Galerie Jean Fournier à Paris entre novembre 2020 et janvier 2021, 50 reproductions de lavis qui forment le catalogue narratif et méditatif d’une série à part dans l’œuvre de Pierre Mabille, renouant avec les figurations de ses débuts et abandonnant pour un temps la couleur qui est la grande question de son travail, tout en déclinant la présence de sa forme oblongue et innommée si caractéristique qui est le fil qui conduit le regard d’un dessin à l’autre en d’infinies variations. La douceur de l’encre, l’intimité du noir et blanc emplissent ces pages d’une réflexion à pulsation profonde sur la fabrique du temps qui passe et sur la façon, désordonnée, multiple, baroudeuse dont s’organise une vie.
