<p>The California Sponges project Addresses two basic needs. Need to organize and codify the minimal and cattered accounts of California Sponges so that more detailed and meaningful work on their systematics could begin. Need to create a key useable by experts as well as by ecologists, biologists, products chemists or students to identify California Sponges. Meeting these needs has required the profuseuse of illustrations so that misinterpretation would be minimal.</p>
