 In a global, complex, and networked society, interior architecture and its praxis are experiencing unprecedented change. Theoretical investigations, design research, and alternative explorations blend previously discrete disciplines within an emerging blurred territory. 
 The International Journal of Interior Architecture and Spatial Design investigates this new territory by requesting scholarship, design research, and projects that ask bold questions and propose innovative responses. Founded and stewarded by the Interior Architecture program at the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture, and published by the University of Houston Atrium Press, ii seeks to re-frame the debate and shape the contemporary dialogue of interior architecture and spatial design. 
 Autonomous Identities, the ii journal’s inaugural issue, features scholarly design-research, visual compositions, and work that challenges disciplinary specificity. Interior architecture and spatial design are poised to transform the design disciplines, and thus, Autonomous Identities identifies tomorrow’s spatial precedents. Autonomous Identities reveals contemporary developments in design education and practice relative to the exploration of emerging materials and technologies. The issue highlights experimentation, theory, research, speculation, and innovation through its focus on collectively re-thinking ‘space’. 
 Autonomous Identities features cross-disciplinary work that offers an alternative perspective on space, materiality, and tectonics. Work may include, but is not limited to, spatial design, graphic design, architecture, industrial design, engineering, fashion, performance, film, and multi-media, as well as the environmental and social sciences.

Corporeal Complexities, ii journal’s volume II, features articles and projects that explore the contingent relationships between body and space.  The work examines the relationship of the human form in the design process, as a generator, as an observer, and as an active performer as it relates to interior architecture and spatial design.   The field of spatial design presumes that a designer operates at the scale of the human body.  Whether resulting in the design of furniture, fashion, a residence, event, or urban park, this emergent field of practice privileges the performance of the body and its relationship to space. Spatial design is impacted by scale in relation to the performance of a body, but liberated from the boundaries of traditional disciplines.  Corporeal Complexities gathers exemplary projects that engage design complexities of the human body. This second issue explores new materials and technologies associated with contemporary design practices and features work that proposes unique ideas of space, materiality, and tectonics relative to human scale. This includes but is not limited to work in fashion, furniture, industrial design, architecture, performance, film, event design, the social sciences, and the arts. Applied Geometries, ii journal’s volume III, explores geometric advancements in relation to interior architecture and spatial design. For this issue, we are not only interested in the use of complex computational design, advanced tectonics, fractal, differential, parametric, and algorithmic geometric practices, but also in the exploration of natural, biological, historical, cultural, sacred, and anthropometric influences in pattern-making generated through mathematical rigor. The work in this issue leverages the role of applied geometries as an active performer in the conceptualization, design, and production of interiors, spatial design, and light-mobile-architectures. Kitty Being Sheriff's daughter isn't just about keeping a squeaky-clean reputation. It's also about keeping your mouth shut about what he does when he's off the clock. When campaign time comes around, no one can know about the bruises he leaves on your body - or your heart. No one knows this better than Kitty Hutch. Dakota Everyone needs a tribe, and Dakota found his in Piedmont Falls. So when he was asked to step up as Vice President of the Dogs of War, he accepted it without question. But now they're in debt to the biggest, baddest motorcycle club in the state. When the Southern Sons come to call in their favor, it tests every ounce of loyalty in Dakota's blood. He never signed up to keep an innocent young girl hostage. Even if she seems to like being a hostage. But any move he makes could put the whole club in danger. It doesn't make it any easier that their captive is beautiful, and smart, and clearly wants Dakota as much as he wants her. Falling in love is wrong in so many ways - but forbidden fruit always tastes sweeter, and love doesn't know right from wrong. As Dakota and Kitty risk everything to be together, the Dogs of War face their biggest battle yet. If they win, they'll be free, for good. If they lose, Piedmont Falls - and everyone in it - will burn to the ground.
