Josh and the Cargan is the story of a young man's struggle with life while helping thwart a sinister interplanetary plot. JOSH SMITH'S hormones are raging, and he can't wait to get intimate with a girl. He also wants to be a famous rock star, and has an amateur band of his own. One evening, he comes home from band practice to learn his rich, eccentric great grandfather, CHARLES EVANS BASTIN, is dead. When the will is read, Josh inherits one of Charley's ugly sculptures while his father inherits the rest. Back home, Josh accidentally discovers his sculpture is a CARGAN, a device used for interplanetary travel as a ghostly presence called an ENTITY. He travels to the planet destination of his sculpture and finds it's a very exotic place.  Josh and the Cargan is my favorite among the books I've written. Every man experiences Josh's problem with girls during the awkward days of puberty. For some of us the problem continued on into high school. When I finally overcame my shyness and learned how to speak coherently to the opposite sex I was baffled by their attitude towards sexual intercourse. It seemed to me that they gave every indication of wanting it, but they recoiled at the prospect of actually consummating the act. Considering the hormones raging inside my body, I wondered why females didn't experience the same drive. A key factor in my puzzlement was the fact that I grew up in the 1950s. Morals were much tighter then, and any girl who was known to have experienced sex before marriage was branded as "loose"or worse. Girls knew boys couldn't keep a secret when it came to sex, so they refused to believe my honest proclamations of confidentiality. I often thought it would be good if there were another planet where sex was safe, confidential and ultimately pleasurable. On such a planet girls would feel no compunctions about sex. It would be a Nirvana. Little did I know that Earth would become such a planet in the 21st Century.

A boy struggles to pass Mauhad, the manhood test of his people, and falls in love in the process. Javik lives in a country surrounded by mountains and covered in old growth forest.  His ambition is to become a warrior like his father, Tolda, but he must pass Mauhad before he can realize that ambition.  When is father is killed saving the others in his raiding party, Javik despairs of ever reaching that goal without his father's training.  Goldar, who led the raid when Tolda was killed, convinces the King to allow Javik to train with Tao Shan, the finest mentor in the kingdom.  Javik finds himself among the sons of the wealthy and must adjust to the situation quickly.  While in training he encounters a girl in the forest.  She is Allana an escaped slave, but Javik falls in love with her.  He convinces her to come out of hiding, and she teaches the sling to Tao Shan's students. The time for Mauhad arrives, and Javik uses Allana's cave hideout to help elude the warriors sent to find him, but must leave it when those warriors close in on him.  He wanders into enemy territory and is captured by Grucheaux, Allana's old master who also happens to be the man who killed his father.  Javik lures Grucheaux into Javik's country where his Mauhad pursuers rescue him.  During the fight, Javik manages to kill Grucheaux which makes Allana his property.  He offers her freedom, and they agree to marry in spite of his adopted father's objections to Javik marrying a slave girl.  Before the situation can be resolved, Javik must go off to war.  Allana vows to wait for him, but when he returns she is gone. The story continues in the next book, Love and War and concludes in Queen of Gorgos.  The Javik series Book One

The Queen of Gorgos is the third book in the Javik series and continues the parallel stories of Javik and Allana. Javik returns from the mountain fortress to find a plague has struck his village. Polla, Goldar's wife, and many others are victims of the plague, but his son, Garen, survives. Javik has no idea what's happened to Allana. Allana receives a visitor from Grogos. He informs her of the desperate conditions on the island. Allana sets out on her own adventure. Allana is determined to bring Gorgos back its honor and glory. Javik is brooding over his loss when Margan tells him Allanas was captured by a bandit king in a country far away. Javik gathers his friends in a quest to free her and they set off for the bandit king's territory. Javik gathers other allies looking for adventure along the way. The group manages to locate Allana, and a battle ensues. Javik set off for Gorgos only to find the island is only a shell of its former self. The story continues in book four, The Wallan Prince.
