Description: Le Parc Lumi re focuses on a single, key aspect of Julio Le Parc's work--his preoccupation with changing light. Le Parc, born in 1928 in Mendoza, Argentina, is one of the world's best-known kinetic artists. By 1958 he had moved to Paris and begun creating his first light works and mobiles, most of which were made in the 1960s, while he and other young artists, including Fran ois Morellet, were founding and developing GRAV (Groupe de Recherche d'Art Visuel). This large-format publication contains a comprehensive selection of those works that use both light and movement. It also includes an essay from Sebastin LApez and an interview with the artist that is full of insights into his world and his work.

Argentine painter Guillermo Kuitca, born in 1961 in Buenos Aires, is widely considered one of the most important contemporary artists in South America. Architecture, theater, music and cartography play a central role in his work, where maps and blueprints are condensed into a world of poetic and territorial fantasies, and reality and fiction overlap. Whether depicting an "Acoustic Mass" at the Old Vic or a constellation map of "Heaven," in each painting or drawing collected here, Kuitca measures the world anew, shedding light on complex spatial contexts and intertwined social processes. This beautifully designed volume, the first monograph devoted to the artist, features a padded cover, black-on-black endpapers, tab separated sections and paper changes. An insightful interview by Hans-Michael Herzog leads into three distinct plate sections, followed by a biography and a bibliography. Guillermo Kuitca is represented in the United States by Sperone Westwater gallery in New York and L.A. Louver in Los Angeles.

Brazilian artist Antonio Dias (born 1944) began making multimedia works in the mid-1960s, inspired in part by the prosaic subject matter and brash visual style of Pop art, and the wave of Neoconcrete art that exploded in Brazil contemporaneously with Pop. In his earliest paintings, Dias developed a fascinating amalgam of cartoonish brashness, occasional assemblage modifications and a distinctly Brazilian color palette, while his sculptures and installations simultaneously explored more austere, Malevichian realms, drawing in part on New York Minimalism. During Brazil's military dictatorship in the late 1960s, Dias left the country and moved to Europe, where he developed a style of conceptually oriented painting using words. Tracking Dias' five decades of production through works on paper, sculpture, painting, film and installation, this first English-language monograph on Dias reveals a hidden strain in Brazilian art to a wider public.

German-born, Uruguay and New York-based artist Luis Camnitzer (born 1937) confronts awkward social and political issues head-on, always inflecting his uneasy subject matter with a keen sense of humor and irony. Over the last 40 years, Camnitzer has developed an international reputation, not only as an artist, but also as a critic, educator and theorist. A leader in the realm of conceptual and political art in Uruguay, he works in a variety of media, including installation, printmaking, drawing and photography, to explore the former Uruguayan dictatorship, and more generally the violence that governments and systems of power inflict on individuals. In his chilling 2008 work "Last Words," Camnitzer collected the final statements of death row inmates in Texas, assembling a work that compels viewers towards the very brink of mortality. This publication surveys Camnitzer's influential body of work, from 1966 to the present.
