<p>In an age of mass shootings, widespread terrorism, and violence within schools and in the home, it is clear that society is in an uproar. Individuals, nations, and the world are becoming more and more polarized as social strife escalates. The authors of Social Unrest argue that at the root of social unrest is the conflicting dualities of me/you and us/ them that blind us to our inherent connectedness. Dualities are an essential part of our material world. However, human dyads have a markedly different character than nature’s dualities where these contrasts are harmoniously integrated into a whole. The question then becomes: Why don’t humans function in a similar fashion? Why have we created conflicted polarizations of me/you and us/them? And why do these permeate our relationships with each other? This book presents an explanation for this human condition through the I-System Model of Human Behaviour. It presents the theory that an overactive I-System (a mind-body metasystem) lies at the root of many dysfunctional personal, organizational, and social behavior patterns and some mental health disorders. The book offers specific individual and collective Mind-Body Bridging practices for individuals, couples, families, organizations, and policy makers. These techniques, which are aimed solely at reducing the activity of the overactive I-System, resolve the one-sided dichotomies of me/ you and us/them, and can markedly reduce individual suffering and social unrest.</p>
