What Is New in This Edition? Like the first edition, the second edition of Figurative Language: A Comprehensive Program provides adolescents and adults with a variety of activities to develop their understanding and use of the following forms of figurative language: - Multiple-meaning words - Proverbs - Metaphors and similes - Humor (riddles and jokes) - Idioms - Clichés and slang The six forms of figurative language that are targeted in this resource are the same as those in the first edition, but all of the activities in this second edition are new. Some activity types follow a similar format as in the first book, while others follow a brand-new format. For added convenience, answer keys and extension ideas are included as appropriate. Even so, as with the first edition, the activities are intended to generate discussion of figurative language, not to be used as mere paper-and-pencil worksheets. Who Is the Target Audience? Figurative Language is intended for adolescents (ages 10-17) and adults who: - Demonstrate communication or learning disabilities - Have mild or moderate neurological impairments - Demonstrate mild forms of autism - Are learning English as a foreign language
