About the Author      GLEN CONNER was born and reared in a rural community named Halifax. After college, he had a 23-year career in the U.S. Air Force that was followed by a 24-year career in the Department of Geography and Geography at Western Kentucky University, where he taught meteorology and physical geography. After those two careers, he began historical research and has published three books: 'Til Freedom Came, Frontiersmen in the War of 1812, and The Burial Ground. All three are histories of both the people and the events that shaped local developments. The Kentucky Historical Society presented him with their Award of Distinction in 2018. It recognized his work over many years as a contributing member of the Allen County Historical Society in the discovery and preservation of local history. He continues in this effort, which satisfies his curiosity and brings the excitement of discovery.</p>
