An autobiography of Harold Gilbert, edited by Hila Gilbert. 'Vedauwoo' means 'Earth-born' in the Arapahoe Indian language, and is the theme and title of a pageant written by Maybelle L. DeKay, to show how the natural wonders of Wyoming have developed the spiritual forces of her people. Performed in an amphitheatre of massive granite rocks, in a glen on the mountain road between Cheyenne and Laramie, in 1924, Harold Gilbert played the role of Vedauwoo, the earth-born spirit changing with his environment. The pageant was symbolic of Gilbert's own life, recorded in a manuscript from his memories, diaries and many photographs.
