Martin S. McDonough is a clever, worldly, attorney practicing in a tiny dot of a village in Michigan's Upper Peninsula during the Prohibition Era, (1920-1933).  Now he must draw on his unique bravado to save all that his  Italian community holds dear, and become the man he is destined to be.
