This is not a Print-On-Demand or Facsimile copy but the original book published in 1958 by University of Georgia Press. Written by Kenneth Coleman, professor of history at the University of Georgia in Athens, he was the preeminent authority of his generation on colonial and revolutionary Georgia. He wrote what is probably the most widely read history of the state, Georgia History in Outline (1955), which has been revised many times and remains in print. It has proven to be the all-time best-seller of the University of Georgia Press. Coleman's major work, The American Revolution in Georgia (1958), which was the outgrowth of his Ph.D. dissertation, remains the standard general academic view of that period in Georgia history. The text is heavily footnoted and has several maps.

Since it was first published in 1955, Georgia History in Outline has been the standard concise history of the state. The third edition includes a major revision of the chapter on the twentieth century, reflecting in part new information and interpretation on modern Georgia from A History of Georgia and in part the author's personal knowledge of events since the 1920s.

The Dictionary of the Georgian National Biography is the first English-language compilation of biographies of men and women, whose lives have influenced the Georgian culture and history. The dictionary includes biographies from all periods of history and all walks of life. It is not simply a dictionary of "Georgians," but rather of people of every ethnic background, who contributed to the historical development and cultural diversity of the Georgian society. In addition, the Dictionary includes profiles of the sons and daughters of Georgia who have distinguished themselves abroad.

Published in 1961, Georgia Journeys traces the development of Georgia with a particular emphasis on the lives of the ordinary men and women who helped establish the colony. The book begins with the departure from England on the Ann and covers up to the point at which the colony became controlled by England. Sarah B. Gober Temple and Kenneth Coleman use primary accounts to reveal the many problems and challenges encountered during the development of the colony. In addition to the ordinary colonists, the lives of historically prominent figures are revealed, including John Milledge, father of a later state governor, Thomas Christie, recorder of the court at Savannah, and Noble Jones, who served the colony in various positions for more than forty years.

The American Revolution in Georgia explores the political, economic, and social impacts of the American Revolution throughout the state of Georgia. In this detailed historical study, Kenneth Coleman describes the events leading up to the Revolution, the fighting years of war, and the years of readjustment after independence became a reality for the United States. Coleman investigates how these events impacted Georgia's history forever, from the rise of discontent between 1764 and 1774 to the fighting after the siege in Savannah between 1779 and 1782 and changes in interstate affairs between 1782 to 1789, and more. The American Revolution in Georgia contributes to the complicated history of the American Revolution and its impacts on the South.
