This book challenges the prevailing wisdom of modern society regarding traditional male and female role models - that a close mother/son relationship is an obstacle to a boy's route to manhood - and suggests that transforming the mother/son relationship is the key to ending the division and the war between the sexes. Through case histories and anecdotal accounts taken from personal life, it sets out to show that unless the premises of parenting are re-examined, the results are lonely men, bad marriages and midlife crises.
