A stunning mid-career retrospective Mark Bradford is best known for dazzling, large-scale abstract paintings that examine the class-, race-, and gender-based economies that structure urban society in the United States. This is Gagosian’s 500th book. It fittingly marks the achievement, as Chris Burden was among the first artists to work with Larry Gagosian. Chris Burden: Streetlamps is the definitive publication on Burden’s iconic series. Chris Burden: Streetlamps explores the artist’s work with antique streetlamps, which he began to amass in the early 2000s. Burden fully restored 202 streetlamps from the 1920s to create his renowned Urban Light, which was acquired by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. He realized four more major streetlamp sculptures in both public and private spaces, all of which are lavishly documented here from conception through installation.

The temporary installation of artwork by Ricky Swallow and Lesley Vance at the Huntington constitutes not only the first time the work of these two artistshusband and wife, sculptor and painterhas been displayed together, but also the first time contemporary art has been installed in the mansion of Henry E. and Arabella Huntington, a Beaux-Arts style structure built early in the 20th century that served as a backdrop to the Huntingtons’ evolving collection of British and French art of the 18th century. Known for playful and provocative video projects that range from monumental installations to intimate, single-channel works, Pipilotti Rist (born 1962) is a pioneer of moving-image art. This publication examines the process and execution of Rist's “The Tender Room,” a new environmentally scaled installation at the Wexner Center for the Arts. “The Tender Room” envelopes viewers in the transformative power of color through video projections and colored films applied to the gallery's expansive windows. This catalogue documents the project, which included seating elements designed by the artist, a newly fabricated underwear chandelier, the video projections, and video installations developed for the nearby restrooms. Also addressed in the catalogue is an additional new video installation developed for two restrooms and one of the artist's best-known public projects, “Open My Glade (Flatten)” (2000), which was originally shown in Times Square and was exhibited concurrently with “The Tender Room” just outside the Wexner Center's entrance.
