Review\nBurning Rage by Don Banting is an exploration of the human psyche. It illustrates how differently humans react to traumatic experiences. Burning Rage by Don Banting is a psychological thriller that will appeal to fans of the genre. The narration meanders between the first and third-person perspective and the protagonist's past and present. Don is a beautiful storyteller. He relayed the story with flair and masterful twists that kept me engaged throughout. Also, he weaves authentic dialogues while maintaining a steady pace that suits the narration just right. I was most impressed by the characters' relatability. The ordinariness of their lives and routines were charming. Hence, it was easy to be enamoured by them and get invested in their lives. I especially liked Laura's personality and drive. She seems like someone I could be friends with. Also, this is a preference, but I don't like it when a fiction writer tries to provide solutions to whatever societal issues their book addresses. I believe Don attempted to accomplish this through Brandy. Writing is an art, and its allure lies in the conclusions the consumer draws from it. When writers try to tell their readers what to think, they deprive them of the thrill of coming up with their own interpretations. For me, imbibing the words of an author and giving it a meaning unique to me is the essence of consuming written art. Overall, the book was a decent read. I rate it 3 out of 4 stars. Though the editing is pristine, I deducted a star for the quibbles mentioned above. In addition, it contains some violent scenes and profanities, so I wouldn't recommend it for children. Review by "Online BookClub"\nBurning Rage follows a woman named Jess who is unhinged due to a childhood full of bullying and loneliness. After a string of arson attacks, and a kidnapping, readers are taken into the depths of Jess's mind and history and we get to truly understand the extent of her insanity and the origin of it. 
The way the author has used multiple narratives in all of the chapters is done to riveting effect. Breaking each section down using the year is key when journeying back to the events that made Jess who she is in the present. I enjoyed the back and forth because its handled well and I always knew where we were in the story's timeline. 
Don Banting has created an suspenseful story, and the way multiple stories converge is done very well. Also, the sense of time and year is written with exceptional imagery such as 'her jeans dragging along the Berber carpet, making a swish..' This aspect really helps the reader to imagine what it was like at that time and assists allows them to visualize the characters. 
The title given to this book is very appropriate as, by the end of the story, readers will have a full appreciation for Jess's character, both the good and the horribly bad. This is an engrossing psychological thriller that is darkly intriguing. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a compelling crime thriller with a scary but alluring villain at its core. It didn't help that Jess, Nathan, and Mom ended up living in a trailer; that Jess looked poor and unkempt, never wore makeup, and believed herself too ugly to love. Over time, her self-loathing leads to violence: setting fires, causing others pain, and ultimately kidnapping someone she hopes will love her. How desperate for attention and love can a person be? Burning Rage by Don Banting wasn't quite what I expected: it was so much more!\nBurning Rage offers readers a frightening plot that surprises and shocks readers right through to the end of the story: I truly never saw the biggest twist until it was revealed.
