André van Lysebeth is er in dit boek in geslaagd de hatha-yoga begrijpelijk èn uitvoerbaar te maken voor de westerse mens. Daartoe geeft hij zeer gedetailleerde beschrijvingen van belangrijke houdingen (asana's), oefeningen en vooroefeningen. Hij licht de fysiologische achtergronden ervan toe, wijst op de risico's van elke oefening en beschrijft de bijbehorende techniek en ademhaling. Bovendien wordt met foto's duidelijk gemaakt welke houdingen correct en welke fout zijn. De ademhaling krijgt ook veel aandacht bij de verschillende asana's.
