<p>يعتبر فنّ الفخار والخزف من أرقى الفنون التي لازمت الحضارات المختلفة مند أقدم العصور. وهذا الكتاب يتحدث عن مساهمات الفنّانين المسلمين في فنّ الخزف، وكيف أنهم توصلوا إلى إنتاج آنية خزفية استعاضوا بها عن أواني الذهب والفضة من حيث الفخامة والجمال باستعمالهم تقنية تسمى البريق المعدني، ولاتزال هذه التقنية لغزاً يحيّر الناس برغم ما يتوافر لديهم من علوم وتقنيات.<br />
يسعى هذا الكتاب لسبر أغوار تلك التقنية، فيشرح أصولها والمناطق التي شاعت فيها، ويجعل من صناعة الفخار في سياق ذلك مصدراً معتمداً في تحديد عمر الحضارات القديمة. وهو يشيد بمساهمة المسلمين في تطور الحضارات سواء في بلاد ما بين النهرين، أم في الأندلس التي تشكل جنوب إسبانيا اليوم.<br />
ليس مصادفة أن يتعلّق الإنسان بهذا الفن ويطوّره. فالطين أصلنا الذي نشأنا منه كما في قول الله تعالى (لقد خلقنا الإنسان من سلالة من طين)، وهو مآبنا الذي نعود إليه كما في قوله تعالى (منها خلقناكم وفيها نعيدكم ومنها نخرجكم تارة أخرى). فنحن إذن من طين وإليه نعود.</p>
