West Of The River Odra

They came from the Wilno region, Kalisz, Podlasie, Lwów, from around Stryj, Warsaw, the Lublin district... and many other points. Here they found a place of their own, upscale houses and sunny apartments, work for parents, a school for the children, a church for the faithful, roads for the buses, rails for the trains, bridges for vehicles... and no traces of war. These were only in their souls. I invite you to the little town of my childhood - redolent of spruce forests and fresh air, blossoming with all the colors of rhododendrons and rowanberries. Of rustling warm breezes, mountain brooks, a stony river. And every winter garbed in the most beautiful, queenly snow. Filled with a soothing quiet broken by the clatter of horses' hooves, sleigh bells, or a symphony of the municipal orchestra. Where eyes would say, How good that you are here! Along the streets, terraces and steep trails, numerous visitors came from all over Poland, laughing and suntanned, praising the charm of the Izerski landscape. But the inhabitants were an inpouring of folk whose children today announce with pleasure, I am from Świeradów.
