Colour-coded duplex sonography as a non-invasive technique for the evaluation of vessels is more and more preferred to the riskier invasive contrast medium representation. Thanks to improved high-resolution equipment, the technique's effectiveness increases constantly. In the last ten years, the author has done pioneering work particularly in the evaluation of the vertebral arteries and the intracranial vessels. This text presents a systematic examination technique and interpretation of the colour-coded duplex sonography of all cerebral vessels, for example, the carotid arteries, the vertebral arteries and the intracranial vessels. Other features of the book include: descriptions of anatomy and basic physical data; presentations of examination techniques, normal findings, normal variants and pathologic findings, with colour photographs and parallel schematic drawings; and every chapter encloses hints to avoid typical mistakes and misinterpretations. This bilingual edition has the advantage of giving the English terminology next to the correct German nomenclature, thus alleviating the interpretation of international reports and literature.
