L'égyptomanie dans l'art occidental (French Edition)

Egyptomania is the re-use of elements borrowed from ancient Egypt, spanning varied periods and art forms. It should not be confused with egyptophilia, nor indeed with exotism. The aim of this publication is to display some of this phenomenon's most spectacular pieces, to expand on their sources, themes and symbols. Examples exist in all fields of art from the 16th century to the present day. Amongst the subjects covered one finds architecture, commemorative monuments, funeral art, fountains, bridges, industrial buildings, sculptures, paintings, interior decoration, furniture and art objects. Examples from the cinema, advertising, fashion design and comics are included as well.
