Product Description DODGING FACELESS DEMONS, TRYING TO SAVE THE WORLD, AND BEING HASSLED BY YOUR DEAD MUM – IT’S JUST ANOTHER SCHOOL DAY FOR ADA AMAYA AND BOBBY GIBSON.An ill-advised short cut pulls the twelve-year-olds into a deadly plot involving secret agents, an ageless sorcerer, and an artefact of devastating power. As the children race against time to solve the mystery, they must face their fears, outwit their foes, battle monsters born of shadow and nightmare, and make their way through traps to the heart of it all: the Apocalypse Chamber. It’s 1982 and five kids from a North London comprehensive school are fighting the End of the World.I’d say the odds are about even…REVIEWS'Trail of the Cursed Cobras isn't just a fantastic found family story, it's proof Nugent is a massive talent who only continues to impress. This is nuanced, compassionate and very funny genre fiction and I can't wait to see what happened in Norfolk, as the kids frequently do not talk about' - The Full Lid'...this was the kind of read you enjoy with a smile on your face. Skilled writing, great plotting and world building and most of all characters you would go out on a limb for. Go track down a copy and have a lot of fun reading it. Strongly recommended!'- Runalongtheshelves.netFrom the AuthorTrail of the Cursed Cobras was born from my love of adventure films, such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Goonies and The Mummy. On the TV it was Grange Hill, Dark Season, Box of Delights, His Dark Materials and Stranger Things. As the story is set in the 1980’s I was able to draw on my own childhood experiences, which included werewolf and vampire hunting, with my mates. Oh and a headless death cult. Yes that part is actually true. The idea was to throw a group of North London twelve-year-olds into an extraordinary adventure. To put a different spin on things, I wondered what if these kids had already survived something similar? What if that supernatural experience was so terrifying (never ask them about Norfolk!) that they made a pact to ignore any future calls to adventure? Will they honour that pact when a strange puzzle box, a missing teacher and a new, very smiley, pupil brings the adventure to them? The cornerstone which I built the entire story upon was having kids who don’t go to a school of the weird and wonderful, come from a fabled lineage, have powers or special destinies. What they are is smart, tough, determined, imaginative, loyal and brave - the perfect ingredients for any hero. This is a story to show all children that when armed with those attributes anyone can be extraordinary. Review Well, that was an absolute blast, and one of the most fun, enjoyable books I've read in a long time.Aimed at middle-grade readers (typically between 8 - 12 years old), it's a cracking tale of adventure set in a North London comprehensive school the early 80s. Echoes of Grange Hill, mixed with a bit of the X-Files and maybe a dash of Scooby-Doo make this a properly fun read. One of my favourite books of the year, I can highly recommend picking up a copy. And I can't wait to find out what happened to the kids in Norfolk. - Espresso Coco'Trail of the Cursed Cobras isn't just a fantastic found family story, it's proof Nugent is a massive talent who only continues to impress.
