God's Blessed Angel

This is the story of my wife, Jan, who lived an amazing life. At the age of twelve Jan overheard the doctor tell her parents she had contracted polio and would never walk again, never have children, and never lead a normal life. She broke down in desperation that night in her quarantined hospital bed all alone with her left side completely paralyzed. That night she asked God to heal her and she promised to live for Him the rest of her life. Her desperate cry sparked the beginning of a life long personal relationship with Jan and Jesus. Over a period of eight months, she became a living miracle, she was healed and walked to church on Easter Sunday morning. Later in her life she and I had two wonderful sons and she lived so much more than a normal life. God had truly answered her prayers and gave her so much than she even asked for.In her mid sixties Jan was diagnosed with cancer. She had ten surgeries over the course of ten years. During this time Jan had radiation therapy, chemotherapy, and was treated by the best doctors at MD Anderson. During her struggles with cancer she lost her hip, pelvis, and leg to amputation. This was a brutal, difficult, painful struggle. In her fight against fear and cancer she became a beacon of hope to others in the midst of her personal darkness. In this book you will find excerpts of sixteen years and over three hundred pages of personal conversations with God which she documented without anyone's knowledge. She taught about what a Christ centered marriage looks like, she taught about the Jewish Blessing spoken of in the Torah and the Old Testament and how it is still effective and powerful for today. She taught about rebuking fear, overcoming obstacles, refusing to accept depression, holding on to hope, and intentionally choosing to live in the peace of God while facing your personal giants. Jan prayed with doctors, nurses, medical techs, people in the waiting rooms, and anyone that God put in her path. She was there for help in her life-threatening situation and instead she decided she was there to encourage and to uplift others, offer them hope, and to pray for them in their time of need.This story is about living with disappointment, facing your fears, choosing hope in the darkness, healing and restoration, intentional Biblical life choices (Jan had a list of 30 qualities she wanted in a husband prior to dating which are listed in this book), Christian parenting, and overcoming the worst that the world can give with a smile, grace, and an unshakeable belief in Jesus.
