Summer Solutions English & Grammar Workbook (Level 2)

Summer Solutions 2nd Grade English Grammar & Writing Mechanics is for students entering 3rd Grade. Without ongoing practice, literacy skills lag over the summer break. However, students can bridge the summer learning gap with 2nd Grade Grammar. All educational standards require children leaving Grade 2 to identify and use nouns, pronouns, verbs, and adjectives, identify the subject and predicate of a sentence, use correct end punctuation in sentences, and use capital letters correctly. Using the summer workbook, students complete 30 lessons of mixed review over a 10-week period, and this ongoing practice ensures retention of all the language arts concepts covered in 2nd grade. Additional skills in the workbook include identifying synonyms, antonyms, and homophones, constructing compound words, using proofreading marks to correct writing, and using plurals and possessives correctly. By completing just one lesson three days a week, the student will enter third grade, ready to begin learning new material right away.
