The fate of the world depends to a large extent on how Chinese and Americans behave towards each other. This book tells the stories of three very different men. One is a professional soldier who was wounded by an enemy armed with Chinese weapons. Another is an author and professor who was born in China and educated in both in China and the US. The last is a college freshman who taught English on two different occasions in both rural and urban China. The soldier works to prevent wars. The professor builds bridges of friendships. The student hopes for peace by corresponding with Chinese students. The authors faced many challenges trying to write bilingually about perceptions using simple language. We learned much as we were looking at the two countries from different perspectives. The result: Our America, Our China , 26 stories on war, reconciliation, history, education and fears.
