Partisanas: Women in the Armed Resistance to Fascism and German Occupation (1936-1945)

Partisanas documents the very significant contribution women made to armed resistance to the Nazis across Europe with special emphasis on the Jewish undergrounds of Poland and the Soviet Union. Strobl interviewed hundreds of survivors and tells in detail dozens of life stories-how the women became involved, how their male comrades treated them, how their families reacted, how they were affected by the experience once the war was over.Ingrid Strobl has published books, edited journals and directed and produced shows for German TV, including one based on Partisanas. This is the first of her books translated into English. She live in Cologne.
