Description:

G. M. Doolittle is often called the Father of Modern Queen Rearing, having developed the method of transferring young larvae from worker brood cells to special wax cups he fashioned from the rods of wooden rakes. Having spent over two decades to develop his methods, compare other systems, and evaluating the results, he finished the book on Christmas, 1888. The book was published by the American Bee Journal in 1889 and reprinted in 1899. This is a very useful book, and in many ways amazing due to Doolittle's insight into bee biology and the importance of quality queens in a beekeeping operation. An absolute must if you raise queens or plan to, this book is highly recommended for all beekeepers who are serious about learning how the beekeeper influences the quality of the queen and thus the entire hive. The reprint has 101 pages. It has been reset, images enhanced, and a Table of Contents added to help find Doolittle's many discussion threads.
