This is the first of two volumes which demonstrate how available sunshine can be used as part of site planning and architectural design to reduce fuel consumption for heating and to enhance the environment. The topics covered in this volume include: site layout; building form; internal planning; the design of windows and opaque elements; ventilation; heating systems and controls; and conservatories. It provides guidelines for architects, students of architecture, developers and others involved in the design, production or rehabilitation of housing.
