This is a collection of spells on love, marriage and dreaming - all of them authentic and some extremely ancient - taken from the handwritten manuscripts of a genuine white witch. The author's material is drawn from and inspired by the works of her great grand-mother, a 19th-century Yorkshire "wisewoman" who used her fund of native wisdom to help others. The spells, reproduced here for the first time in their original form, represent a fascinating element of folklore tradition and offer a glimpse of a time long ago when country people lived close to the earth and observed the laws of nature.
