Spatial Mechanisms: Analysis and Synthesis

This book is evolved itself out of 30 years of teaching, research and development experience on the subject, moulding different important aspects into a half-year course. Basic principles of analysis and synthesis of mechanisms are included considering all relevant aspects. Each chapter in this book consists of a concise but thorough fundamental statement of the theory; principles and methods; followed by a selected number of illustrative worked examples. Various aspects of classification of mechanisms; analytical techniques for the kinematic analysis of spatial mechanisms; existence criteria and gross motion analysis of mechanisms; kinematic synthesis of mechanisms for function, rigid body guidance and path generation; coupler cognates and coupler curves for spatial mechanisms are presented in this book. A number of sample unsolved problems for students practice, to amplify and extend the theory are also included. Numerous references provided at the end of chapters and the bibliography at the end of the book serve as helpful sources for further study and research. Thus the book retains all the aspects of spatial mechanisms in a systematic manner as far as possible for a one semester course at graduate level without recourse to following several books and reference publications and derive benefits of basic principles and methods recently advanced in spatial mechanisms.
