Myths and Legends

This work of reference, with over 1250 entries, covers some of the world's cultures, societies and civilizations. The central figures are arranged A-Z for easy access. More than 150 major and over 1000 minor entries are divided into three sections: the places, the characters and concepts, and a 67-page micropedia. The first section is organized geographically, and concentrates on the differing cultures from which myths have risen. Illustrated with colour photography and time-lines, this section also includes locator maps to take the reader right to each area. The second section lists, from A to Z, the myths and legends that arose from the areas featured in the first section. Special boxed features give extra insight into the concepts behind the myths. Every major myth and legend earns a place in these pages, along with many less well-known stories.
