In 1975, Pope and his wife, Helen, moved to the North Carolina coast and became leaders in establishing beach and golf resort communities. He became a major force in publicizing the area and is still active in the community today. Returning to his artistic pursuits, Pope blends his love of history with his love of illustration and writing to create lavish scenes from long ago.
